OUR SUSTAINABILITY

To us sustainability isn’t a hype word, it’s a mindset that goes into our product to ensure what we are making is SUSTAINABLE. Of course we use plant-based Acetate in the manufacturing of our cellulose frames and it would be irresponsible for our company use anything but green energy in all our offices and warehouse locations.

The real reason we pride ourselves on being an ethical and environmentally responsible company is because the quality of our frames have been produced with the intent of being able to continue having a lifecycle long after other frames would become landfill.

In fact, we're so confident in the longevity of our products that we’ll buy back your pre-loved AM Eyewear frame so it can be donated to someone who needs them and they can continue being used. We call it our Buy Back Program.

OUR STORY

Some products are made; others are given life.

Founded in Australia during 2003, AM Eyewear established an artisan approach to crafting exceptional eyewear – upscale daily staples for the fashion-conscious. Over the last 20 years, AM has matured into a global lifestyle brand. Each set of frames forms as an extension of a person; a personality with soul, and a life well beyond a mere fashion item. Born out of a fanatical love of old school frames that were difficult to find in Australia, AM Eyewear has grown rapidly from a cheeky young upstart into a cult brand respected around the globe.

Drawing on our Australian Made namesake, AM’s mission to create beautiful and exceptional eyewear soon matured into a global wholesale company with leading optical and fashion stockists worldwide. Handcrafted in Italy and Japan, using a combination of Titanium plated with real Gold and Acetates from Japan and Italy, AM Eyewear sunglasses are fitted with co-branded nylon Carl Zeiss lenses and Gold ET AR back coating.

Designed by hand using traditional methods, each step in the manifestation of a frame uses processes passed on by master artisans, combined with the latest in eyewear technology, but only ever truly complete once they are worn. With so much effort going into the design and manufacture of every frame, we choose to dedicate every design to the person who has inspired it.

In an industry where multinational companies are all about the numbers sold, AM Eyewear’s ethos is to be a creator of eyewear and not a counter of eyewear.Funder: Kumar (Simon) Ponnusamy - Our ethos is simple; to design beautiful, unique and exceptional eyewear that makes a difference. From ideation to delivery, we create with respect.

See through the difference.

NEW ORDER

AM Eyewear emerges with a bold, young modern line in the New Order collection, evoking new life with a sophisticated edge to celebrate 20 years since the cult eyewear label’s iconic frames first hit the market.

Paying homage to the cultural landmark of New Order’s 2001 release “Get Ready”, a bold reemergence into the spotlight with a new shine on their well-loved authentic quality, AM Eyewear founder Simon Ponnusamy has captured the magic, excitement and electricity of that Brit Rock movement and channelled it into AM Eyewear’s new collection.

“Each set of frames in New Order carries the sophistication and rebel-elegance of Brit Rock in exquisite tones and premium materials, with the electricity and vibrancy of individual design takes on familiar, loved frames,” says Simon.

“AM turns 20 this year, and I’ve been reflecting on the ways cultural movements are heritage to those who live through them, and vintage to those just connecting now.

“Since opening our Flagship store in Sydney, we’ve connected with so many people who’ve known AM for decades and see it as part of their heritage, while at the same time connecting for the first time with younger audiences who are drawn to our timeless, authentically modern designs.”

“To us, that demonstrates the longevity in AM’s trusted quality brand, and that’s something worth celebrating,” he says.

New Order collection expands AM Eyewear’s beloved frames with 8 new sunglass styles and shapes with a defiantly young modern aesthetic. This stunning collection uses sustainably produced bio-based custom coloured ZEISS sun lenses in the inspired tones of Brit Green, Rust Red and Navy Blue. Italian-made bio-based acetates carry the traditional tortoiseshell and black frames, while introducing a heavier new palette across the crystals with Wheat, Maple, Khaki. The collection also introduces new block colours in Nude, and pastels in Baby Blue and Baby Pink in frames offset exquisitely with white temples.

Carrying the collection’s vibrant energy with a sophisticated edge from sunglasses through optics, New Order introduces 10 new optical styles, in both full acetate frames and a combined acetate + 18KT plated titanium. The acetate frames showcase incredible handworked textures in pattern and hardware, sitting alongside classic crystals the range includes highlights in the colours Opal, Mint, and Florence Tort, with updated classic shapes in frames to suit every face.

New Order marks AM’s 20th collection, and the release of Howie, AM’s 167th sunglass frame. Keeping the excitement building, AM has a range of new colourways coming in a high-summer drop December 2023.

Focused on a sustainable future, AM Eyewear is proud to include Carl ZEISS Sustainable Nylon Polyamide Sun lenses in their New Order collection. This innovative line reduces their carbon footprint by 50% compared to standard lenses with 39% substitution by bio-based raw materials, made from agricultural and wood industry waste.
